This photo was taken on the front porch of their home on College Street in Clinton, NC in 1910.

William James Hudson, Ruth Marie Hudson, Etta Barnhill Hudson (Marcus Wilbert Hudson was not yet born, but was conceived).

Bettie Ada Hudson[Barfield], Mary Jane Hudson, Leamon [Lehman] Shadrick (Shad) Hudson.

This photo was taken at the house in Clinton. They moved from there to the farm located on the Warsaw Hwy [24]. The farm was about 5 [?] miles outside of town. There was a railroad that ran in front of his farm; when you came off the highway you had to cross the railroad to get to the farm which was about a 1/2 to 1 mile from there. We used to walk beside the tracks to go into Clinton. I was not little, probably a teenager [about 15 in 1941] when Will died. I was married & had Mary when Etta died which was on Christmas Eve 1948. Mary was born just a couple of weeks before then.

Will’s two sons by his first wife were named Coleman & Troy. Coleman moved to Alexandria, LA & was a manager of a large hotel, and I think his wife’s name was Pearl [Geneva Eula Treece] and they had a son & daughter. Leamon inherited part of Will’s farm (back quarter) & his wife’s name was Nana. They had no children. Ruth died unmarried as a young woman. Mary Jane never married; she was an invalid. Bettie married Willie Barfield and they moved to Norfolk. Marcus, who was the youngest got married, and her name was Ruby. They had 3 children: Marcus Jr., known as MJ, Catherine, & Billy.
