CJ HUDSON, HOTEL BENTLEY MANAGER DIES

Coleman Jart Hudson,Sr. a manager of Alexandria's Hotel Bentley since 1937, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in an Alexandria hospital. He was 62.

A native of Goldsboro, N.C., Hudson was manager of the Tutwiler Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. for 17 years before coming to Lousiana.

He moved to New Orleans in 1934 to become executvie assistant to the manager of the St.Charles Hotel. Hudson came to Alexandria in April 1937 to manage the Bentley affairs, he was a member of the Rotary Club and long-time conventions chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.

During Hudson's tenure as manager, the Bentley was expandand and a major renovation program is now being completed.

Hudson is survived by his wife, Mrs. C.J. Hudson, Sr; one son Coleman Jart Hudson, Jr. of Jackson, Miss. and one daughter, Miss Geneva Hudson of Alexandria.

Also surviving are three brothers- Troy, Lehman and Marcus all of Clinton, N.C.; a sister Mrs. Betty Barfield, also of Clinton and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hixson Bros. Funeral Home chapel, followed by interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.
Rev. G. Aiken Taylor , pastor of the First Presbytarian church.
